The 2026 Freelancers' Awayday
We are delighted to announce that Newgen KnowledgeWorks is the main sponsor of the 2026 Freelancers' Awayday.
This year's Awayday will take place on 1 and 2 of October.at the voco® Oxford Spires Hotel in Oxford, UK.
Who is the Freelancers' Awayday for?
The Awayday brings together freelancers and representatives of publishing houses, outsourced services providers, EdTech companies and other organisations in the English Language Teaching and Educational publishing sectors. This combination of roles within the industry naturally leads to opportunities for connecting, collaborating and understanding each other's challenges and requirements. The Awayday has become the sector's go-to networking event of the year and is open to Freelance Publishing Professionals members and non-members alike.
Networking before, during and after the Awayday
The Awayday has become known for its friendly, relaxed atmosphere and the quality of the professional connections people make. Many delegates tell us they leave with new contacts, fresh ideas and, in many cases, new clients or freelance projects.
Before arriving in Oxford, you'll have access to the Awayday Delegates' Hub, where you can browse our interactive attendee directory, see who's coming, introduce yourself, arrange meetings in advance and register our Pre-Awayday Online Networking event on 23 September – an opportunity to put faces to names before arriving in Oxford.
On the Thursday evening before the Awayday, continue building those connections at the free Walk & Talk and social drink or you book a place at the Pre-conference Networking Dinner. And if you can only make it to the Awayday itself on Friday, there are ample opportunities to meet people throughout the day with generous networking breaks, a seated lunch and post-conference drinks.
Afterwards, the Awayday Delegates' Hub gives you access to presentation slides and related resources and enables you to stay in touch with the people you've met.
Many delegates tell us they leave with new contacts, fresh ideas and, in many cases, new clients or freelance projects.
Ticket sales close at midnight on Tuesday 15 September.
